2016 | 92 m2 | 120 K€

Сomplete renovation of a 92 m2 apartment, constructed in the 70s and located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. Initially this three-room apartment was relatively dark and cramped because of a very classic day / night layout. All this — despite having a double East-West orientation and being located on the fifth floor. Originally designed as luxurious, it had three bathrooms, a large entrance, but the rooms and the kitchen were rather small, and it lacked storage space. The layout is constrained by concrete carrying walls and shafts inside the apartment.

The owner’s hobbies is painting on canvas. She wanted to make this place brighter and much more open, with a single spacious bathroom, a real dressing room, and a glassed-in kitchen facing the artist’s studio.

Without breaking the general layout of the apartment, we have rationalized it by making a fully equipped bathroom, a WC for guests, a spacious entry hall and enough integrated storage space. Hinged or sliding glass doors and a large glass partition made it possible to lighten up the space without sacrificing the intimacy and the presence of certain dedicated areas. The light could finally freely circulate in the apartment, entering it from both sides.

Wood and glass have become the core elements of this sober but warm and luminous layout. The very fashionable 19th century steel interior canopies did not quite suit this 20th century apartment. So we applied a more contemporary, somewhat Scandinavian style, inspired by the art deco rhythms. It has given space and volume to this apartment, and an identity, which is both soft and still.
